Before the workshop
Get ready for day 1
About 20 minutes, a few days ahead: install three tools, sign in to AWS and run one check. Whatever fails here would otherwise cost you the first hour of the workshop.
Install the tools
- uv (it installs Python 3.13 for you)
- Terraform 1.9 or later
- AWS CLI v2 and git
Clone and configure
terminalgit clone --branch bootcamp-participant --single-branch https://github.com/Opsfleet/agentic-workshop-aws.git datastream-bootcamp cd datastream-bootcamp uv syncterminal · macOS / Linuxcp .env.example .envterminal · Windows PowerShellcopy .env.example .envIn

terminalaws configure sso # start URL and region from your instructor; profile name: bootcamp aws sso login --profile bootcampRun the pre-flight check
terminaluv run bootcamp.py doctorIt creates nothing, costs a fraction of a cent (one tiny model call) and finishes in seconds. Every line should start with ✔; send the output to your instructor either way.

When a line fails
| Check | Usually means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Terraform, AWS CLI, uv | Not installed or too old | Install from the links above, open a new terminal |
| AWS credentials | Your SSO session expired or AWS_PROFILE is wrong | aws sso login --profile bootcamp |
| .env PARTICIPANT | Blank or malformed name | Set the name your instructor gave you in .env |
| Participant role | Your name is not on the deployed roster, or SSO may not assume roles | Check the spelling, then tell your instructor |
| Gateway settings | Wrong region, or your key was not synced yet | Check BOOTCAMP_REGION, then tell your instructor |
| LiteLLM call / budget | Gateway unreachable, or your budget is used up | Check VPN/proxy, then tell your instructor |
| Bedrock | WARN only: direct Bedrock should be denied | Tell your instructor (nothing to fix on your side) |
| Network | A proxy or firewall blocks an HTTPS host | Ask IT to allow the hosts listed below |
Corporate networks
Behind a proxy or firewall, HTTPS must reach:
- Cognito:
https://cognito-idp.<region>.amazonaws.com/ - National Weather Service:
https://api.weather.gov/ - GitHub:
https://github.com/ - AWS APIs (
*.amazonaws.com), the bootcamp gateway and site your instructor shares - Python packages and Terraform providers (
pypi.org,files.pythonhosted.org,registry.terraform.io,releases.hashicorp.com)
Stuck? Run uv run bootcamp.py doctor --verbose and send the output to your instructor before the workshop.
